Marinus Dijkhuizen does not appear worried about following Mark Warburton as Brentford manager.
The move has been met with scepticism by some fans, given Warburton's record with the club but Dijkhuizen has stated that he is unmoved by stepping into the big shoes left by his predecessor.
He said: “No. I don’t think like that. There is a good base for me to build on. They play already good football. They were playing good football to get to fifth in the league. It’s the most difficult to start, it’s a good base to play."
“He has done a great job over here in the last couple of years. I respect that. Now, we can build on that base.”
The new gaffer seems intrigued by the setup at Brentford and is keen to use the statistical models that made Benham's other club FC Midtjylland a success in Denmark.
He added: “Yes, of course, we talked a lot about it, which makes the story interesting for me. A part of modern football is to use all kind of stuff to get better. I do it myself, to get feedback from myself. Yes, it’s good stuff. For me, it’s good. I am fully behind that policy.”
